How much is Puppy Class?

Puppy class is $280 with a maximum of 5 puppies. Having a smaller sized class allows more one on one time with the trainer. The 8 week course includes weekly Q&A sessions, training videos and ongoing support.

How old does my puppy need to be?

As soon as possible. Critical socialisation period ends at about 16 weeks, therefore the sooner the better. We recommend to be in touch before you even get your puppy and start at 7 weeks, as soon as puppy has had their first vaccination.

My puppy isn’t fully vaccinated yet. Can I still join the class?

Yes, absolutely, they should and can from 7 weeks onward as long as they have had their first vaccination!
This is a difficult period for new puppy owners – because they need to spend as much time socialising their puppy to their new life as possible but at this age, they are not yet fully vaccinated. It is a bit of a balancing act – but the benefits of socialisation are too important to ignore especially given that one of the major causes of death in dogs under two years old is not disease but euthanasia because of behaviour problems.
Please have a read of the information from the American Veterinary Association on the topic of the risk of missing early socialisation versus the risk of not being fully vaccinated.

My puppy is over 18 weeks old, can they still join puppy class?

It depends. If the puppy still requires basic puppy training, they can join class. However, they might not be allowed to socialise with the other puppies if they are too big and boisterous, but they can work on focus behind a barrier instead. Socialisation is only a few minutes at the end of class.

Is it okay to bring family members or friends along to Puppy class?

Yes, absolutely! Anyone involved in the puppy’s life should be included in the puppy’s training. However, we ask that if children attend, that they participate in the training. It is distracting to other puppies attending the class if they are playing in the training rooms.

How do I pay for private training?

We will invoice you after your training session.

Does Lisa do in-home visits?

Yes, she does. The benefits of home training are that home related issues can be better addressed. However, if it suits you better you can come to one of our training locations to save on travel costs.

What is the minimum amount of time we can book?

The initial session is at least one hour. Follow-ups are no less than 30 minutes.

Do you work with aggressive dogs?

Yes, however we will need you to fill out a questionnaire and take the appropriate precautions from there.

What do I need to bring to Puppy Socialisation?

Please have your puppy on a lead and have yummy treats with you. Be sure to have watched the video with the rules.

How many puppy socialisation session do you suggest we attend?

We recommend people come until their dog is properly confident and starts socialising with adult dogs out and about.

Can Children come to Puppy Socialisation?

Yes, we love to have children come along. It gives other puppies who aren’t around children the chance to get exposure. It is important that the supervisors have enough space to get to the puppies. So we ask that you and your child are mindful of this and that children are supervised by an adult.
If the kid is scared of the puppies or a pup is scared of a kid we might ask the child to sit at the side and watch from there.
We ask that there is no running, screaming or throwing around of toys/objects and that the parents are actively monitoring their children, so that everyone has a pleasant socialisation experience.
Please familiarise yourself with the 'Kids Around Dogs' info here to ensure the whole family knows how to become a tree and how to greet a dog (PAT, PET, PAUSE).
