Just finished Puppy Classes with Lisa - she’s a brilliant teacher, fun and very helpful. She really understands the puppies and helps with all areas, not just training. I can’t recommend her highly enough and we look forward to doing Level 2 with her.

MEET THE FAMILY

Lisa Sturm is a 2014 import from Germany and loves the New Zealand lifestyle.
Sit Happens is a dream coming true, having her own training business after years of working for other training companies, helping dog owners all over Canterbury to develop that special bond with their dogs, based on mutual trust and respect. At Sit Happens we use only force free, humane, science-based training methods, based on your dog's natural instincts.

We offer one-on-one training at your home or local area and small group-classes to help you have a calm, sociable, well-mannered best friend. Some say Lisa's Puppy Classes (Puppy Preschool) are the best in Christchurch because they are small, personal, lots of fun and offer continuous support. Puppies get to socialise in a safe environment and really learn to enjoy focusing on their family. Join one of our lectures for FREE and experience how valuable it is to have a knowledgable, friendly and supportive trainer in the field.

We will help you create a great focus out and about and you will see how this will lead to amazing recall, lead walking and responsiveness in general. Besides teaching lots of useful behaviours for your everyday life out and about we can also help with ball fetching, fun tricks and tracking training as well as good manners in your own home.

Get in touch with our experienced trainer. You will see that you can train your dog to be exactly the best friend you want with using no aversive methods!

And here are our Training Assistants

Meet Hank  (Huntaway-Ridgeback)

Hank (born 2.9.14) chose Lisa as his mum mid of September '15. Dogwatch had rescued him as a puppy from the pound and found him a family which had to re-home him 9 months later. And there it was born: the dream team! Inseparable ever since the two of them went on lots of adventures together. Hank loves going biking with mum, his favourite place is the beach (or arguably mum's bed), his nose can track anything and he couldn't be any more keen on learning tricks and playing with his ball.

Meet Mouse  (Collie-Huntaway)

Mouse (born 28.6.16) chose to be Hank's sister end of September '16. K9 Rescue & Rehoming rescued her from the SPCA Hokitika who had hand-raised her and her siblings after a tragic accident of her mum. Mouse is the perfect addition to her family: a people-loving, friendly, social little sweetheart who takes great pleasure in donating kisses to all her friends. Mousy loves playing tug with her rope, agrees that going biking is great fun, could chase her ball all day long and joins mum on a regular basis going to cafés to find the best Chai Latté in town.

Puppy classes with Lisa Sturm - very enjoyable and useful. The classes were conducted with skill and humour and the dogs loved it!

Meet Snoop  (Black-White Tabby)

Snoop (born 5.11.16) decided to add some chaos to Hank's and Mouse's peaceful doggy-life and joined them end of January '17. Cat Rescue had rescued him and a funnily random looking litter and placed them in a foster-family. Some of his siblings were ginger, one was long-haired and one was handsome grey-tabby-brother Smooch who joined him on his journey of becoming the cheekiest cats in town. Snoop is the bravest, loves playing in water, can climb trees like a monkey and couldn't be more proud than when he steals mum's socks and protects the highly-valued prey from his siblings.

Meet Smooch  (Grey-White Tabby)

Smooch (born 5.11.16) joined his brother Snoop in end of January '17 from Cat Rescue in becoming part of Hank's and Mouse's wee family. Smooch, just like his name suggests, loves smooching up to phones, laptops and people. He is a bit more delicate than his brother Snoop, but then again often a lot more inquisitive as well. Smooch chases his mice on the rope forever and loves finding little spots to snuggle into or lay in the sun. Besides wrestling with his kitty brother he has also developed great joy in wrestling with his doggy sister Mouse which is just adorable.

My puppy Winnie and I did puppy class and it was fantastic - Lisa is a doggy guru! Would definitely recommend to anyone with a new pup!!
